six maids a-mincing this week's caption competition...
the fact that she was waiting for a large rabbit
to finish a phone call makes me think
this is meant to be Alice So we made our way to the Panizada.

Paniza is like thin fried bread pieces, but just made from a flour and water paste, which we got served with a fish roe thing.

A local delicacy, they assured me.

Hey, it was free and there was free beer with it.

And coros y chirigotas givin' it large.

big smiles at the Panizada
harlequins, no doubt gagging for fried flour bits
note the jolly wave from the back
Yes, I know these pics aren't very good either and the page is copied from the previous one but it's still Carnaval and I'm still drinking. Wanna make something of it?

coro

esto si que es: una chirigota These guys are performing songs by Paco Alba, 'El Brujo' (the wizard, d.1976) who wrote many of the great pasodobles of Carnaval & whose monument stands by La Caleta beach. We are talking serious local hero here. And we were assured that only 4 phrases needed altering for a contemporary performance. ('Harold Wilson' to 'Tony Blair'; 'Jack Kennedy' to 'Bill Clinton'; 'under the counter from the newsagents' to 'from the sex shop on Avenida de Andalucía',and 'showing an ankle' to 'stark bollock naked')
vacas locas

Dos vacas hablando en un campo:

—Has oido sobre este problema de 'las vacas locas'?
—Si. ¡Que desastre! Pero no me preocupa.
 —¿No? ¿Por qué no?
 —Soy un conejo.

Help! I am being attacked by a crazy Norwegian woman!

Sunday ...

Had to wait.

I finished this at nearly four in the morning on Monday and I felt I ought to try to realign my sleep patterns with the big light in the sky.

There were a number of pics to add from Sunday, though not the ones I planned, plus I have now added the other song on page one, having tracked down the Tampax songsheet (sounds gruesome, doesn't it?) on the Carnaval website.

So now you should be able to visit all three screens.
